Car Accident Near Edwardsville 10 Injured in Crash
Car Accident in Edwardsville, IL
Ten individuals were taken the hospital after a multi-vehicle car accident on northbound Interstate 55 in Edwardsville. For Donald Bailey and his wife, the crash derailed a trip to visit the grandkids.
He states as he was traveling with traffic, a semi-truck was speeding toward them from behind. He aimed to get out of the way. However there was no avoiding the impact. Bailey stated, pointing toward his pickup, turned onto its side and on top of a chain-link fence. Eight other vehicles were also hit in the chain-reaction crash that semi-driver caused when he averted from the roadway to reach for a bottle of tea, troopers said. Bailey, his partner, and their little dog could walk away. Ten others were the medical facility, three airlifted with life-threatening injuries.

Crews closed Interstate 55 for about 7 hours as they worked to tidy up the wreckage scattered across the interstate. The workers that tended to the Baileys’ pick-up were the same ones who reacted to the crash on Interstate 55 that killed four individuals last month. The crash last month- merely 2 miles away- was also brought on by a semi driver approaching the zone. This is the 2nd major crash on I-55 including a semi truck in recent weeks. Last month, four ladies were killed in a crash involving a semi north of Edwardsville in Madison County.
